Giuseppe Ferlendis was an Italian oboist and composer. In 1777, he was appointed oboist at the Court Chapel of Salzburg, with a yearly stipend of 540 florins (higher than that of Mozarts by 40 florins). He died in Lisbon. His brother Pietro and his nephews Gerardo, Faustino and Antonio were all professional oboists. Ferlendis, Joseph. - According to the G. Donati Petteni surname, it was originally Ferlendis. He was born in Bergamo in 1755, probably the son of a musician. He was an oboe player and virtuoso of the English horn, and there is no specific information about his musical education, and there is little biographical data unique to him, especially in his early years. Certainly the young Ferlendis had a reputation as a musician, evidenced by concerts in theaters and important cities. We know for sure that he gave a concert for mandolin, flute and oboe on 31 May 1776 at the Teatro Carignano in Turin with his brother (probably a flutist and English horn player). Success cannot be missed. They were asked to give another performance three years later (July 23, 1779).
